Why glass suits candles
Glass is heat tolerant, does not react with wax or fragrance oil and shows the color of the wax. Clear, frosted, colored and sprayed jars let one candle range cover several looks.
Wall thickness and heat
A candle heats the glass for hours. Even wall thickness and a solid base help the jar handle that heat. Thin or uneven walls are more likely to crack, so ask your supplier about the glass used for candle vessels.
Diameter, wick and burn
The jar diameter decides the wick size. A wider jar may need a larger wick or several wicks to melt the wax evenly to the edge. Always run burn tests with your wax, wick and fragrance load before you approve a vessel.
Lids and finishes
Wood, metal and glass lids protect the scent and dress the candle for retail. If the jar is sprayed or printed, confirm that the coating is suitable for candle use and test it in your burn trials.
